A season of creativity and knob turning blended electronic, hard rock, and ambient influences with the textural, earthy tones inspired by Sigur Ros, The Album Leaf and Explosions in the Sky. The result is Wake up, the debut release for Colorado group Anesthesia. Wake Up examines the contrast of beauty and destruction, hope and despair, and response and apathy through the lens of musical landscapes instead of lyrical vocabulary. This feel is captured through creative continuity that explores differing arrangements and instrumentation as the album progresses.
Piano and guitar driven "Wake Up", "A Walk in Autumn" and "Sleep" explore progressive hooks and melodies with drums. Electronic and Rhodes textures found "On the Operating Table", "Waiting" and "Ire", relying on simplicity in their execution. "Megan" forms the emotional center of the project, while "Fascism" and "Why We Were Taught to Breathe Again" round out the album with some of its most defining moments. Through the different styles, tones and voicings that converge on this album, Wake Up still manages to come across as one complete thought to the listener.
